Job Description

As we look to drive departmental efficiency and business growth we're looking for an experienced Commercial Business Partner to join our Finance & Operations team.

Reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with the Chief Operating Officer and the wider business, you will be the go-to lead for financial analysis, ensuring that our data insights drive performance throughout the entire Lead-to-Cash lifecycle.

This is a Melbourne based role with minimum 3 days per week onsite.

Here's a breakdown of the core focuses of the role:

1. Business Partnering, Reporting and Analysis

  • Lead Analysis: Prepare and lead financial reporting for board and management packs.
  • SaaS Metrics: Measure business units against North Star SaaS metrics (including ARR, MRR, CAC, and LTV) and assess wide-ranging KPIs quarterly.
  • Primary oversight of ensuring that renewal revenue is fully supported by contracts and all invoicing is on time
  • Review ARR and revenue streams to ensure accuracy and consistency between systems.
  • Forecasting: Act as a dedicated resource to the sales team for data analysis and financial modelling.
  • Exception Reporting: Develop and maintain BI tools to provide proactive, exception-based reporting that highlights business risks and opportunities.

2. Commercial Operations and Efficiency

  • Process Improvement: Identify and drive improvements in departmental efficiency, particularly around the revenue function in Salesforce.
  • Contract Management: Review and process vendor and customer contracts, including those with adjusted or non-standard terms. Ensure documentation aligns with company expectations and is filed correctly in Salesforce and Box.
  • Sales and CS Guidance: Provide direct reporting and guidance to Sales and Customer Success teams. Analyse sales efficiency, pipeline conversion, and lead ROI to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • AI and Innovation: Proactively identify opportunities to leverage AI tools to automate manual workflows, enhance data accuracy, and streamline operational tasks within the finance and sales functions.
  • Production of monthly department reports
  • Usage Insights: Analyse customer usage data (e.g., Pendo stats) to identify specific upsell opportunities and monitor retention efforts.
  • Special Projects: Assist with high-level operational projects, including M&A and Due Diligence (DD).

3. Finance and Compliance

  • Payroll and Commissions: Run monthly commissions for the sales team and manage payroll for Australian and US offices using Xero and Deel.
  • Core Accounting: Manage end-of-month, quarter, and annual reconciliations, BAS, general journal entries, and maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Audit and Controls: Support audits, enforce financial controls, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies.
  • Review invoicing and accounts receivable process to ensure invoicing is in line with contracts
  • Renewals and Implementation: Conduct monthly reviews of contract hours and their use across CS and Implementation to ensure renewals close in a timely manner.

Qualifications

This role is ideally suited to someone who’s worked in the enterprise SaaS space before and has the ability to challenge existing business practices to enhance overall performance. We’re looking for someone resourceful, outcome oriented and happy to go on the maturation journey as we grow our business.   • Certification: Must hold a CA or CPA (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Systems Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Salesforce and Xero is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Strong background in financial modelling and the development of BI tools for reporting.
  • Payroll: Demonstrated experience managing multi-region payroll.
  • Communication: Ability to translate complex data into clear insights for senior stakeholders.
